I'm travelling into a new way of working, a new country, a new language, and a new hobby which I'm passionate about. Come with me for some of the journey...

Dollshouses

Here, for those of a miniatures persuasion, are easy links to the dollshouse posts.  They cover the work I've done on dollshouses in my mother's museum Small Worlds in the Czech Republic.  Visit Cestina's Dollshouses for the ongoing story of the working collection of dollshouses, or on the links below to visit each post detailing the work I've done there.

Inspired By Part II - work done in 2013

The Tudor Tavern - worked on in 2014

The Opera Singer's House - worked on in 2014

Dollshouse Gallimaufry - other work done in 2014

You can now also see the first inhabitants of the Tudor Tavern, created in 2017.  In making them, I drew on my "Words" life in the theatre...

So come and meet Mistress Quickly, Sir John Falstaff and Doll Tearsheet, from Shakespeare's Henry IV Parts 1 and 2 and enjoy some Pastime With Good Company.

Some more recent views of Small Worlds...

There's also this post from way back in 2012 (before the museum opened) when we were preparing one of the houses - an 17th century Dutch coffee shop - to go into the town museum as a 3D advertisement for the delights to come in Small Worlds.

And I was also having fun with my (at the time) new photo editing programme!

You might also like to see the Dollshouse Book I created to be the museum visitors' book...

And this 3D "dollshouse canvas" was created for the PaperArtsy blog, with the Delft tiles around the fireplace as the starting point (for their "Tiled Patterns" theme in June 2019).  If you visit the post, Around the Fireplace, you'll see how things snowballed from there!

This really is the tip of the iceberg - there's so much more to see in the posts themselves.  I hope you enjoy them.

“It might interest you to know," Tully says, "that there's a reason people build miniatures. Doesn't matter if it's guys laying out model railroads or women decorating dollhouses. It's about control. It's about reinventing reality." [...] "Some people get a lot of satisfaction in creating a little world they can escape to. In making things turn out the way they want, at least in their dreams.”

Oh my! I used to have a doll house as a girl--someone made it for me! (I can't imagine--so much work--and things have to be even--shudder!) Lovely. xo

Wow, I'll have to little by little check this out, what an awesome adventure. Caught my interest with your beautiful items, but when you mentioned Czech Republic I have to revisit. My grandparents came from Prague. And our little Czech Village in Cedar Rapids, offered lots of that heritage through displays, food, and glassware.

Cestinas museum, Small Worlds, must be a reason to visit the Czech Republic again. What a wonderful display of dolls houses you have shown to us and how wonderful to have your work on display for people to see.
Hugs, Neet xx
